Gratifications
Personal Identity: finding ourselves reflected in texts or learning behaviour and values from the media. Reality TV or documentary (Educating Yorkshire) are good examples.
I think that personal identity is a major gratification that has been used in order for this film to appeal to a wide audience. A great example of this is displayed through the use of the child. This allows for other young children to be able to create a sense of identification with this character as she is supporting her father. This may allow young viewers of the film to look up to her and try to imitate this behaviour by caring for their families in a similar way. It also spreads the message of road safety to the younger generation as they watch the film.
No language has been used therefore the happenings occurring within the clip are what are more paid attention to, by the audience. This also means that the campaign can be reached globally as everyone should be able to understand the concept of the film. Those that are watching most likely use cars therefore it would be beneficial for the majority of audiences to watch this.
This film could be considered to be quite easy to understand since the actions used within the clip are metaphorical and suggest being in a car, despite the fact that the actual film is set in a house. This means that most people can grasp the main message of the film and take something (hopefully) valuable from it.
There has been a particular focus on the idea of family, which contains people of different ages which shows that the message provided by this film can be understood and considered by different age groups. Particularly in this clip, it is evident that the message applies to everyone, regardless of their age.
